Some people like cars and planes, some love horses or steam engines, but you'll be in good company if you think that the ocean–going tall–masted sailing ship is the most elegant and beautiful mode of transport ever devised by humans. The maritime terminology might be unfathomable, but take one look at those graceful lines and sleek curves and you get this sudden urge to run away to sea with The Onedin Line theme playing in your head (if you don't know or remember that TV series about tall ships, there's a splash of it here on YouTube ).
On Easter weekend in April 2017 you're in for a treat as London hosts the start of the Sail Training International Rendez–vous Tall Ships Regatta 2017. Around 40 vessels will set sail from Greenwich to Quebec, Canada, via Portugal, Bermuda and Boston. The Parade of Sail will see around 40 huge Tall Ships and a number of smaller Class C and D ships sail down the Thames in convoy at around 5pm on the Sunday.
It really doesn't matter whether you know a brig from a barquentine, or a spinnaker from a sausage roll, you'll just love being around these gorgeous great beauties and we'll take you to the Regatta, at a price that won't sink you, and include 3 or 4 star hotel, free time in London and Windsor, 3 course evening meal on Saturday and a full English breakfast on both mornings.

Saturday After a morning departure from your local area we travel by comfortable coach directly to central London, where you will have an afternoon of leisure to go shopping or exploring as you like. We'll meet back at the coach and continue on to our hotel in good time for the 3 course evening meal, after which you can relax and enjoy your first night's stay.
Sunday A full English breakfast to fill the sails, and then it's off to Royal Greenwich to see the Tall Ships and take part in the activities. The event organisers, Sail Training International, have a helpful website telling you all about the ships, so you can have some fun spotting sloops, schooners, cutters and ketches with the aid of this identifier sheet.
You'll be able to watch the ships sail out at around 5pm, and then there'll be time to grab some vittals before we come about and set a course back to the hotel in the evening for your second night's stay.
Monday After a final breakfast at the hotel we will travel by coach to Windsor, where there will be time to explore the town and perhaps go around the Castle†, stroll down The Long Walk in Windsor Great Park, wander in Windsor Forest, or even take a short boat trip up the Thames from Windsor Promenade. In the mid–afternoon we set off for home.
†A Castle visit normally takes around 2–3 hours. We recommend you check the Castle's website and pre–book to avoid queues.
Here are some example hotels or similar ones that we use for this break, actual availability may change with the travel date you choose.
Some hotels have an additional supplement per person, as shown below. Supplements are stated for the break (not per night)
